Fundamental Analysis - Part 2. The Fundamental Analysis series is a simple, multiple-part, and educational resource designed to help PinoyInvestors know more about Fundamental Analysis. It complements several sections in the PinoyInvestor Stocks Report, especially the "Stock Picks for Blue Chip Investors" section, which shows our partner brokers' Top Stock Picks for long-term investors.

The "numbers" are what usually govern the use of Fundamental Analysis. From historical income statements to financial ratios, these predominate the thinking behind Fundamental Analysis. Before we dive into these quantitative factors, however, it is prudent for us to learn about the qualitative factors as well.

This is because qualitative factors also play a significant role in affecting a company's performance and consequently, its stock's intrinsic value. Any company, big or small, may face extinction if its industry or product line gets phased out in the future (remember Walkman's? That's right - you probably don't.). The same can be caused by unsustainable business models, stringent government restrictions/regulations, and weak-performing top managers. If you are not aware of these factors, you might not make profitable investment decisions!
